Alexandra Maria Lara (born in Romania) is a Romanian actress and television presenter. Her most well-known work is the lead in Rush, Downfall Youth Without Youth Control as well as Rush. As the only children from Romanian actor Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra entered showbiz early and landed up playing lead roles in different shows on television by the time she was sixteen. Following her highly acclaimed performance in the TV movie Der Tunnel, Alexandra went into other notable roles such as Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudljunge as well as the secretary of Adolf Hitler in Downfall. This film was nominated for an Oscar and won critical and commercial popularity. Other Oscar nominated movies featuring the actress include The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. Alexandra is well known for her work in numerous noteworthy projects both domestically as well as internationally. These projects included British biographical feature Control Greek dramatic film The Dust of Time French historical Miniseries Napoleon, amongst others. In addition, she has been an adjudicator at the Transylvania International Film Festival as well as the Cannes Film Festival.
